Ergonomic guide

Cycling is not just a mode of transportation, but also a way of life, freedom and independence. Our frames are characterized not only by their unisex design, but also by a low center of gravity. Together with the wide contact surface of our balloon tires, you get a particularly safe riding experience.

Your own physical strength sets the bike in motion and takes you wherever you want to go. Three contact points are particularly important for ensuring that your bike and body work in harmony:

  • The handlebars, where your hands steer the bike in the desired direction.
  • The pedals, where your feet transfer power to the bike.
  • The saddle, where your entire body finds support and rest.

To ensure that your physical strength is transferred efficiently to the bike, it is important that the three contact points are tailored to your needs.

HANDLEBAR POSITION

The handlebars give you support and direction. You should be able to grip them comfortably and securely without stretching too far or bending your upper body. To find the ideal position, you can install an angle-adjustable stem, more curved handlebars, and custom grips in addition to the standard components. After all, nothing is more uncomfortable than tingling hands while riding.

foot position

The correct foot position on the pedals determines whether the power is transferred effectively to the bike and the correct impulse is given to the motor. The saddle height is crucial here. To check this, place the balls of your feet on the pedals and turn the crank one round. This should be possible without much effort. Also pay attention to your hips. They should remain stable and horizontal while pedaling. If your hip joint tilts or lifts, this indicates that the saddle height is incorrect. If the saddle is set too low, this will quickly affect your knee joints and you will not enjoy cycling.

seating position

How you like to sit is a very personal decision. Some people prefer a harder seat, others prefer a softer one. We offer a variety of saddles and, above all, suspension seat posts for individual comfort. The most important thing about your sitting position is that you feel secure and that the saddle provides support. The S-shape of your spine should be gently supported and you should be able to reach the handlebars without any problems.

All our i:SY models come with extendable handlebars and adjustable saddles as standard. The reason for this lies in the frame, which is designed to “grow” with you. Thanks to the flat seat angle, people of different heights can ride our i:SY models with equal comfort. This is particularly practical if you want to use the i:SY as a family bike. It also allows you to sit more sportily or more comfortably on your i:SY, depending on the route and how you feel on the day. The flat seat angle offers another important advantage. The weight of your body and the force you apply to the pedals are not directed vertically through your knees, but slightly from behind. This is easy on your joints and allows you to automatically push yourself up any hill.

Our ergonomic guide is intended as a guideline. Ultimately, a test ride will determine which model with which components best suits your needs. You can test ride our i:SY models in detail at our i:SY specialist dealers.
